Unusual places to stay for a weekend break in the UK?
Hello,
It is my Husbands birthday on May 1st and as its the bank Holiday weekend I would like to book a surprise break for him. I did this last year (we went to Stonehenge as he had never been), but money is pretty tight this year so I am looking for a bit of a Bargain! – Im thinking maybe £150ish for 2 nights?
Has anyone ever stayed anywhere a bit different? Somewhere unique?
We have stayed in B&Bs and hotels quite a lot and I would love to do something unusual.
Any ideas welcome!

for info: We do like historical sites, interesting architecture, we’re even into the Paranormal a little bit too.
We both love the outdoors, the countryside, walking, country inns etc……?
(I suppose im almost answering my own question but I would love to know if there are any hidden gems anywhere?)
hire a canal boat for the weekend
visit Durham – picturesque city with a world heritage cathedral
go to Rowlands Gill – nearby is Gibside Chapel that featured in the da Vinci Code http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-gibside and Beamish Museum http://www.beamish.org.uk/Home.aspx
go to Hexham and visit Hadrians Wall (but only if the weather is nice) http://www.hadrians-wall.org/ and do stop at Blanchland on the way http://www.blanchland.org/news.php
PS … we stayed in a great B+B one time in Somerset … they have a room with a four poster bed and we had breakfast at a huge refectory table with a suit of armour for company http://www.dyerfarm.co.uk/
